I am making progress on BBD's Midnight Watch. Since the pictures were taken yesterday I've stitched the bats and the stars on the roof.
I think one reason I don't like WIP photos is that I always manage some more stitching after the picture taking but before the posting.
Since I'm mostly working on larger projects, I'm going to need to overcome that.
I've been busy preparing quilt projects for my upcoming quilt retreat. Woot! 3+ days and nights of sewing. Next Thursday morning until Sunday noonish. Such a nice winter get-a-way.

Block of the month.
I know. You've all come here to see what I'm stitching. While I'm diligently working away on a couple big projects, I've been toiling at my sewing machine an equal amount.
I've caught up with part 2 and 3 of The Great Pumpkin Block of the Month.
I love all things pumpkin so this is a fun one to work on.
Fear not, I'll post a stitching WIP one of these days. When the stars and moon are aligned correctly I'll get one pressed and photographed.

It's a mystery
why I like a mystery quilt so much.
The Jan/Feb issue of McCall's Quilting has the start of a 3 part mystery quilt. Naturally, I had to go find some fabric and get busy.
I really liked the way the instructions told me how to pick the fabric. They also showed the fabric selections made by the magazine contributors.
My focus fabric is the dark blue with the camping gear. My first neutral is the beige and the second is the deep red. The white fabric is my final fabric. The instructions said it could be any fabric that compliments the other 3.
One of the downfalls of mystery quilts is not knowing which fabric will do what. I'm hoping the clear instructions for choosing will equal a pleasing quilt.
We'll see.

First quilt finish
of the year. This was a quick project to donate to the school's drama club to raise money for this year's musical.
The pattern is called Just Can't Cut It. It's perfect for novelty fabrics and makes up pretty fast.
Such fun fabrics. I ordered the red online.
Found the rest at one of my favorite stores.
And the perfect backing at a different store.
It's twin size and I'll use some of the backing fabric for a pillow case.
Here's hoping it brings a few extra $$ to the drama club program.

Phew!
I have my scissors and my sanity back. Really. I was beside myself with frustration over the disappearance. The kids all swore they hadn't touched them in the last 24 hours. Let it be known, though, that the main suspect moved my scissors from beside my family room stitching chair so it wasn't all that hard to believe she'd move these, too.
Anyhow, after exhaustive searching and complaining I gave one last look last night before going to bed.
No, they weren't anywhere near that obvious. First off, this is the view under my stitching chair and furthermore, that's just an illustration of how far UNDER the carpet they were.
There had been some Swiffering around the edges of the carpet yesterday. Now, here's where it gets hard for me to continue complaining....the Swiffer was obviously being operated by someone other then me. There's no way I wouldn't recognize the sound of those scissors hitting the floor then being bumped by the broom.
Anyhow, glad that saga is over. Totally ruined the hour I'd set aside for stitching yesterday.
Happy Stitching.

I know....
I'm never around anymore. What's with that?
Right now I'm screaming. I can't find my scissors. I can't find my scissors. I can't find my scissors. I am not happy. I should have umpteen pairs but I don't. I have 2 that I use for cross stitch. They're both missing. When does this kid go back to college?? I know she's got them and she's not home.
Deep sigh.

What I'm working on
First, thank you for your wonderful response to my email notifying my previous followers where you could find me. Glad you could join me. It wasn't easy...emailing everyone individually. In fact, I'm still not done. When I went back to the list of my followers it WASN'T IN THE SAME ORDER. Yikes. I kept a tally and about half the followers had an email linked to their profile. I may hit a few people a second time as I attempt to complete the list. Hopefully people will wander over and discover a blog they'd like to follow.
My next problem is with the blogger template. It's changed since I set up the first blog. I am much better at it this time but I can't, for love or money, figure out how to change that very light blue color to something that shows up better. Possibly we'll just have to wait until I change the background.
In the mean time, here is the WIP I've picked up now that the Crazy January Challenge from 2011 is history.
There are some very large areas to stitch on this piece. This time of year is good for that, though. I am SO busy right now that I only get to stitch in tiny little pockets of time. Having something to just pick up and stitch on, without much effort to study the pattern, is good.
I will soon have a quilt finish or 2 to show, though. Somehow I found myself in my sewing room quite often over Christmas. There is nothing like that cozy feeling of sewing while playing Christmas music to keep me engaged. I'm always sad to have the holidays over but I think what I miss the most is the music. Last week I decided to play each of my cd's one last time. I barely got any time in there this week so I still have a few left. It's snowing big huge flakes outside so it's the perfect combination. (After I get home from a meeting at church, though.)
Happy stitching.

Welcome
A new blog? Why you might ask....
The story is long but the reasons are simple. I have a follower or 2 causing problems. I work in a field that leaves me at risk. I've tried to keep myself under cover but I've gotten sloppy.
If you're wondering where I've come from.... drop me an email. I have many wonderful blog friends and I'd like to pick up where I left off. I just ask that you don't link me to my old blog on your blog. Let's not invite the same problem people. I'll know them when I see them so don't worry. I even think you're pretty safe chatting amongst yourselves. Just, you know, leave my old name out.
Thanks and I love ya all.
Now, on with the stitching.
